Our Suppliers – Meet Berdie!

Fancy something super fun and different for you big day? Look no further than the amazing BIRDIE Photobooth! Birdie isn’t a single girl though, she’s got some amazing sisters that might be right up your street… owner Kitty tells us all about the amazing Birdie Family…

How did BIRDIE get started and how many family members do you have now?

BIRDIE all started when I left teaching after 15 years, sold my house and decided to think of creative business idea.

I’d been to lots of friends weddings over the past few years and knew how much fun the photo booth had been. So I decided to come up with a new revolutionary photo booth that could travel the U.K. to weddings and festivals and have a cool interior that was adaptable to theme and lots of interactive features.

Over the past three years we’ve grown as a family and we now have BIRDIE (our original pink camper van) , PIXIE her identical sister, BETTY and FLOSSIE our pink Minis who are used as Mini Bars, guest book stations, Candy Bars and also have a hidden top so ice cream can served out of the middle.

We then launched BABS the 1950s light up bubble caravan photo booth with a fairground interior and carousel horse head.

We have a few other pink babes too… a BIRDIE Bar, a pink beer barrow, pink flower power beetle (HERBIE – winner of the Manchester flower show 2019) a pink and cream vintage bike and we are currently launching a full size carousel horse.

BIRDIE isn’t just a photo booth though is she – how many different ways can she be used during the wedding?

BIRDIE has an interior that can taken in and out so she can also be used as wedding transport during the day. Then all the seats, cushions and backdrops change during the evening to provide a playful interactive photo booth with all the twinkly lights and props you can throw at her.

Any advice for B&Gs planning a wedding during lockdown?

Just keep planning, keep visualising that dream day and use all this extra time to plan lots of special personal touches. Get crafting and creating.

Print out your favourite pictures of you together and make them into something to display on your big day to put a smile on your guests faces. Make confetti from blossom collected on your daily walk, choose sentimental songs or those you know will her your guests on the dance floor for your DJ to play during your evening, design a signature cocktail, create a website for your guests to access with fun stories about how you first met/first date, pictures of all your family and guests attending and whether they have a role within the day – so everyone recognises them etc, design a monogram to be used in your photo booth print outs ;)

When do you feel the best part of the day is to have a photo booth?

The majority of couples choose for us to arrive in daylight to set up and be ready to roll by the time the evening guests arrive. That way both day and evening guests can enjoy the photo booth, everyone gets to see the camper vans or caravan lit up and looking pretty, plus everyone’s feeling a little bit more candid once they’ve had a drink ;)

How much can BIRDIE & the gang be personalised?

We can add your new surname in lights on the camper or caravan roof , your initials in light up letters, add personalised number plates, personalise the photo print outs – and the backdrop and props can be matched to you theme or have props that relate to you eg at one of our weddings at Barnsley house the bride had a cat obsession – so we bought in lots of cat masks – one an exact lookalike of the brides beloved cat.

You were the National winners at 2019 & 2108 Wedding industry awards – how did that feel?

Two years winner of the North West and also National Winners was an absolute shock!

Being named the ‘wedding special touch’ by the Wedding Industry Awards was possibly our biggest achievement yet. Hundreds of couples who had used our services voted for us and left feedback. Reading the lovely messages left by each couple was the best bit about it. It made us feel so loved and realise what a big part we play in their special day

What have you been doing to keep busy during lockdown?

We’ve mainly been answering new enquiries for the gang and organising plan B dates with our couples who have postponed. We’ve also been thinking up new ideas and designing new backdrops. We have a giant love heart (sweet) backdrop launching soon with cute little sayings on each heart. I can’t wait to see what it looks like in the campers. And we are trial running some new neon signage.
