The Gardens

During your stay, you just can’t miss our famous gardens. You might want to stroll through sunny terraces, formal lawns, ancient meadows and wildernesses. Or take some to time to explore the gardens’ many twists, turns, nooks and crannies.

Expertly maintained by head gardener Richard Gatensby and his team, Barnsley House’s gardens are not grand or forbidding. Instead, they’re perfect places to unwind morning, noon and night. Featuring knot gardens, statues by Simon Verity, the Laburnum Walk, and an ornamental fruit and vegetable garden, the grounds are among England’s most famous settings.

The gardens are open to the public from 10.30am to 4.30pm daily, subject to availability. Admission is £7.50 per person and includes tea and biscuits. Please call us on 01285 740000 before arriving. Groups over eight must pre-book.
