Hosted by Arcadia Education, join us to discover more about our Landscape in Art in the picturesque surroundings of Barnsley House.

The genre of the landscape holds a special place in the history of the Western canon.  Not established as an official category of art in its own right until the early nineteenth-century; as per the theatrical backdrop, landscape vistas tended to serve as subsidiary settings for Biblical or Mythological subjects in paintings as epitomised in the work of artistic heavyweights Nicolas Poussin & Claude Lorrain.

Come and explore it!
